Bliss Balls–2 ways

Image

I’m sure that you have seen bliss balls on your instagram feed or have heard of these tasty little balls…but have you made up a batch yet? If no, then what are you waiting for! They are easier than cookies, are packed with nutrient dense ingredients and are great snacks when you are craving something sweet and satisfying.

I have made a lot of bliss balls in my day and this post share my 2 favourite recipes that you can re-create at home.

PumpkinblissballsPUMPKIN PROTEIN BLISS BALLS

  • 1/2 cup of pumpkin puree
  • 2 scoops of Vanilla Protein Powder (see note)
  • 1 cup of almonds
  • 1/2 cup of coconut flakes
  • 1/4 cup of coconut oil (melted but not hot)
  • 2 tbsp of peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup of pumpkin seeds
  • 3-4 pitted dates
  • Cinnamon and sea salt

Put everything into the food processor and blend until crumbly but sticky. It should be easily to form into balls and a little sticky on your hands. They might seem like they will never hold together but trust me, after the coconut oil sets in the freezer, they will be perfect. You can always add some oats if your mixture seems to wet, or more oil if it seems to dry.

After you form your balls, place on a cookie sheet and freeze for 15 minutes before you transfer them to a airtight container where they can live in the fridge for a week.

NOTE*** I have recently discovered Clean Vegan by Body Energy Club, you can find it here–BEC Protein Powder, and find it’s simply the best overall protein powder I have ever used. I also like Arbonnes Vanilla Protein Powder but it has added sugar, and I don’t mind Vega’s Vanilla protein powder but could do without the sweet after taste. Just had to share as I always get asked!

Couldn’t do a bliss ball post without chocolate now could I?! This one is definitely more decadent but still made up from healthy whole foods.

  • 1 cup of almonds
  • 1 heaping tbsp of peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup of pitted dates (roughly 5 or 6)
  • 1 scoop of protein powder (use chocolate if you have it!)
  • 1/8 cup of coconut oil (soft not melted or hot)
  • 1/8 cup of cacao or cocoa
  • 1/8 cup of hemp hearts

Using your food processor, blend everything until course and sticky. Roll into balls and into the freezer they go for at least 15 minutes before you transfer them to a airtight glass container where they can live in the fridge for at least a week. Perfect for that chocolate craving or mid-afternoon boost!

As you can see, you can use any combination of healthy nuts, seeds and dried fruit to make bliss balls. I bet you already have most of these ingredients in your pantry already:)
