Dieting is SO Passé

We live in a culture that sets us up to seek instant gratification, so we are often drawn to short-term weight loss solutions like fad diets or “magic pills.” Most of us know in our heart of hearts that these solutions won’t work, but what else can we try?

My philosophy is that the best diet is NO diet. People often ask me how I stay thin and I never know how to answer. I know they want me to tell them my “secrets,” but the truth is that I don’t diet (anymore).

Instead, I listen to my body and I have created healthy habits that are now part of my everyday life. I am lactose intolerant and I’m allergic to eggs. I choose to eat a primarily vegan diet because I don’t digest animal protein well. Once I accepted these messages from my body and began to eat foods that feel best for my body, I found that I had more energy than I ever did when I occasionally ate meat and cheese.

Do I restrict calories, avoid chocolate or deny myself the stuff I love? Absolutely not! By restricting calories and denying ourselves our favourite foods (aka dieting), we develop an unhealthy relationship with food.

Every person is unique, so their eating habits and nutritional needs will be unique too. The most important thing you can do to help control your weight and live a healthy, active lifestyle is to tune in to the messages your body sends you and develop healthy habits around food and exercise.

To succeed with a healthy lifestyle, you need to get real with yourself and take a look at what works and what doesn’t work FOR YOU. NO more yo-yo dieting, or restricting foods and then binge eating on the weekends.

When creating E3, I knew I wanted to do more than just offer meal plans or talk about good foods vs bad foods. Throughout the program, we will learn how to shift our mindset away from “all-or-nothing” and embrace consistency. E3 is designed to help you transition away from dieting and self-deprivation and to start caring about your own health and wellness, rather than a number on a scale. The E3 program will help you cultivate a relationship between your mind and your body so that you can eat intuitively.

That’s not to say I won’t continue to share delicious, nutrient-dense recipes that will give you the energy you need to do workouts with me. Together we will work on staying consistent, eating well 80-90% of the time, and practising balance and moderation.

E3: Empowerment through Eating and Exercise starts September 12th. If you’re not already registered, you can do it now by following this link: https://www.benaturally.fit/e3. And please tell your friends about this empowering program!

You can also watch this short teaser to get a idea of how much FUN the workouts are going to be… YES, I said it—–FUN!
