August Edition of 5 things I’m LOVING Right Now

 As summer 2018 winds down, let me share 5 things I’m loving right now with you as inspiration to perhaps try on a new health practice or become aware of a new product or recipe:)

  1. MANTRAS. 

    One thing I’ve learned over my years of yoga, wellness and health is that everything is energy. Now apply this to our thoughts… every thought carries with it it’s own energy that speaks to the universe. This is why I stay aware and mindful of my subconscious and conscious thoughts. Mantras are simply positive thoughts that are repeated to activate your highest self and to change the direction of any negative thought patterns your may be having. A simple one you can start off with is Sat Nam meaning Truth is my identity. By simply repeating this sound either out loud or in your head, you connect with your most authentic self! Try it for 3-5 minutes and see what shifts. I usually do 10-20 minutes of mantras a day and listen to them on Spotify when I’m cleaning or working at home.

  2. SWIMMING

    Well it is summer! I would safely say that I’ve been swimming at least 2x a day for the past 40 days straight. The colder the water the better:) I’m so fortunate to live by the ocean and have a cabin on the lake. Whenever I feel too hot, sluggish or in need of some inspiration, I head to the water and submerse myself in the element. It’s a beautiful practice when done mindfully. Also… have I mentioned that cliff jumping is extremely empowering and gives you such a rush of adrenaline:)

  3. CARDIO

    I have been posting about my recently rekindled love affair with cardio here, and lots over on my Instagram. We all ebb and flow and this just seems to be my time to do a lot of cardio! I’ve been running close to 20km a week, biking close to 100km a week and doing hill sprint workouts plus the Grind whenever I get the chance. I feel strong and my endurance is improving. My body isn’t getting to worn out and my energy levels are HIGH. It’s a good feeling I tell ya!

  4. YAM SMOOTHIE BOWLS

    These had to make the list as I have been having one almost every single day! The recipe varies but is pretty much a 1/2 cooked yam, 1 banana, 1 tbsp of almond butter, 1 package of Pranin Smoothie Boosters (use code Benaturallyfit to get 20% off) and some cinnamon and coconut milk. Blend until thick and creamy! Top with fresh berries, granola, nuts and seeds, coconut yogurt and anything else that makes you smile in the morning:)

  5. SLEEPING IN!

    Who doesn’t like sleeping in… I’m on vacation as I write this and my mornings are my favourite time of day. I sleep in till 8 or even 9 some days (and that’s after going to bed at the same early time of 10pm) so I’m really getting my needed sleep. The body needs sleep to cleanse toxins, clear emotions, rejuvenate and heal. During the rest of the year I have to be up at the crack of dawn to either coach clients or open the Barre studio where I work. So this special time of lying in bed until 8am is pure gold. Bonus is most morning one of my kids crawls into bed for a snuggle so I feel like I’m in heaven:)

As you can tell, all of these things have one simple thing is common! They give me vitality and positive energy. I no longer love watching Netflix or eating unhealthy foods as that drains you instead of feeds you. It’s very easy to get lost or out of touch with what is nourishing you and what is draining you.
