Natural Beauty- My fav routines and products

Image

I was just reflecting on how different my skincare and beauty routines and rituals are now compared to even just a few years ago.

In the past, I was all about cheap, drugstore beauty products and makeup and now, I really care about what products I choose to support with my dollar! As I become more aware of the harmful effects of the chemicals and toxins found in over the counter products, I made a conscious decision to shift over to the clean beauty movement. I buy and use only natural, clean, organic ingredients and products that are safe for my skin, my family and the environment.

BEAUTY FROM THE INSIDE OUT

Before I tell you all about what I use on my face, body and hair, let me start by saying that most of your beauty comes from inside of you. The food you eat. The love you feel. The outlook you have on life. If you are carrying around a lot of toxic, negative energy, it shows. If you eat crappy processed foods and inflammatory foods, it shows. Many people are still learning that this connection is SO SO IMPORTANT  if you desire glowing vibrancy! I make sure to manage my stress with self-care, eat a clean whole foods diet and practice loving kindness everyday.

The one supplement I recommend for skin health is Vitamin C. I use Pranin vitamin C daily to help with collagen production. I would also add that eating enough healthy fats is crucial. Avocadoes and coconut oil are my main sources of healthy fats that feed my skin:)

Now on to my favourite natural beauty products and routines…..

FACE

I’m fortunate to have pretty clear skin. Yup, it still breaks out if I eat dairy or cheap chocolate, but for the most part, breakouts aren’t my concern. My main skin issue is the fine lines and thin skin I have from lots of weell spent days outdoors and being fair.

My nighttime face skincare routine is pretty simple. I wash my face at night with a natural moisturizer that’s not to harsh and has a natural exfoliator like Nayelle’s CLEANSE. Then I use a light serum by Arbonne from their RE9 line. My eye cream is by Beauty Counter and is great at hydrating the delicate skin around the eye as well as helps with dark circles. Then back to Nayelle who makes the best probiotic night cream. If my skin feels dry, I use a little of Nayelle’s face oil as well to really lock in the moisture.

In the morning, I just splash my skin with freezing cold water. It helps wakes me up and helps build collagen and brightens the face immediately. Honestly the colder the better. Then just my Nayelle day cream, my BC eye cream and a little concealer, mascara and blush (all Arbonne). Becuase of my job as a fitness coach, I sweat, A LOT, so I don’t wear a lot of heavy cream of makeup.

Once a week I do a face mask. I mix it up with either a honey mask (straight up raw honey) or Nayelles amazing clay mask. After my face mask, I moisturize with coconut oil mixed with frankincense or sandalwoo, my favourtie essential oils.

BODY

My body care consists of a lot of rituals and routines that nourish me and raise my vibrations! First, of all, let me share my best skincare hack…cold showers! My favourite self-care routine is to a take a long indulgent bath using Epson salts or clay, essential oils and dried roses. Then after your done, stand up, drain the tub and take a 2-3 minute cold shower. Cold showers really stimulate your circulation and help flush out toxins and reduce inflammation. The hot-cold combo is amazing for sore muscles after a big workout (BONUS).

After my cold shower, I dry brush, an Ayurveda practice that helps stimulate lymph drainage and exfoliates and tones the skin. Lastly, I mix 2 tbsp of coconut oil with a few drops of doterra sandalwood or bergamot essential oil and moisturize my body. The result is the softest skin imaginable and a sense of total relaxation. This self-care routine takes a total of 45 mins and really uplifts your spirits as well.

If and when I do shave, I recently just found United and Free shaving cream which is soft and luxurious and smells amazing. Plus, no toxic chemicals!

HAIR

Only just recently have I completely switched over to completely natural hair care. I never fell in love with any natural hair care product until I found United and Free’s shampoo and conditioner. You only need a tiny amount and it leaves my hair feeling soft and clean with no build up. If you are looking to switch over, I can’t recommend this local Vancouver brand enough!

For more deep conditioning treatments, I make my own! Mix sandalwood (a few drops) with almond oil and massage your scalp and hair. Leave in for 10 minutes and up to an hour then shampoo as normal. Or simply apply a coconut oil mask which is just a scopp of coconut oil on the ends and then wash out.

I try to limit the amount of heat damage and allow my hair to dry naturally most days (in the sun when it’s nice out is best). I also only wash my hair 2-3x a week. If I need a little dry shampoo, I reach for my all natural Plenty and Share which is also a local Vancouver product:) I have always loved my naturally wavy blonde hair, it’s easy to style, cleans up nice and is low maintenance.

And lastly one of the most underrated beauty tricks is water! WATER, WATER, WATER! I drink water all day long to not only help with digestion, energy, weight management and…. glowing SKIN!

That’s it beauties, those are my natural beauty routines and products that I am loving right now:)
