7 Reasons You Should Consider a Retreat Vs a Vacation

It seems like retreats have really found a place in our culture and for good reason, they offer a lot of value!

With the upcoming retreat I am co-hosting with Christine from Blue Crush Yoga, I want to share some the reasons you should consider a retreat over a vacation this fall. I know that vacations are for resting and relaxing, but retreats are purposeful getaways that immerse you everything they are offering from yoga, fitness, writing, wine (yup there are wine retreats), meditation and spiritual healing.

My top 7 reasons why retreats are a welcomed getaway compared to vacations.

  1. Retreats offer a full immersion into the practices learned. The point of most retreats is to teach you ways to get more out of life. You need full immersion to make this happen.
  2. Retreats offer connection that you wouldn’t find on a holiday or vacation. The people you will be spending your time with are going to have similar interests (and some unique perspectives), blocks and goals to you, so this creates deeper, more meaningful connections.
  3. Retreats are a healing safe space to get away from your day-to-day life. Your retreat guides and other attendees are there to hold space for your growth. There is never any judgment or comparison in these spaces and the location is often reinforces this.
  4. Retreats are found in nature and use the elements to help you connect with yourself. I haven’t heard of too many urban retreats…Most take place in beautiful settings like beach front, countryside, or like ours, in the mountains. Most retreats, they leave ample time for you to get outside and enjoy your surroundings.
  5. You have personal guidance from industry leaders and healers. This is huge. Your retreat hosts are putting on this retreat to share something they are specialized in and have spent their lives working towards. They are there to share their insights, knowledge and wisdom with you!
  6. The FOOD. The food is often times carefully curated and uber healthy! Plus you don’t have to do dishes:)
  7. You just show up! You don’t have to plan anything other than transportation and perhaps who will do soccer drop off for ya.

So instead of planning your next holiday, consider a retreat! In the age of personal growth and inner work, I know that you will leave feeling transformed and more aligned with your goals and best self.
