Papaya Almond Butter Protein Smoothie

If you didn’t know already, papaya is amazing! (I found this out in Costa Rica). Before this trip, I wasn’t a huge fan of this sweet fruit, honestly, I thought it smelled a bit like feet and, since taste is mostly about smell, it wasn’t on my grocery list too often.

Anyways, once I got past that and actually gave it a real go, it turns out I freaking love papaya and have been searching out good ones all over Vancouver.

You see, papaya is an incredibly healthy tropical fruit. It’s packed with antioxidants, good for digestion, gives you glowing skin, and has a tonne of immunity boosting vitamins and minerals. Plus, for anyone who’s ever done a parasite cleanse (not that I wish that upon anyone), papaya is actually anti-parasitic, especially papaya seeds. You can add a tablespoon of the seeds if you want to make your smoothie into a parasite-killing machine!

Papaya is also extremely low in sugar! Only 8g of naturally occurring sugar.  (please don’t stress over the sugar as it is attached to fibre, vitamins and minerals!) Plus in this smoothie you are adding healthy fats from the almond butter and protein from the protein powder, I like Clean Vegan Vanilla.
